Opening Awards Reception Sunday, April 3
1-3pm
Grand Strand residents and visitors will have a chance to applaud Horry
and Georgetown County High School student artists at the opening of the
Horry-Georgetown High School Juried Fine Art Exhibition at the Franklin
G. Burroughs – Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum.
The public is invited to an opening reception for the exhibit Sunday,
April 3, 2005 from 1 to 3 p.m. This is the sixth year the Art Museum has
hosted the event sponsored by First Federal Bank.
“The high school show is a very popular exhibit,” Patricia Goodwin, Art
Museum Executive Director said. “The schools are represented by an array
of widely diverse works and media reflecting teenagers' eclectic approaches
to life.”
Jurors Millie Doud and Cate Ferreira of Horry Georgetown Technical College
will select exhibit pieces from works submitted by students from several
Horry and Georgetown County schools. Renowned local artist Alex Powers
will judge the winners. Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded to winners
at the opening reception. In addition, one graduating senior will
be awarded a $2000 scholarship for art education at a college or university.
