We strive to engage our community and our visitors through unique and interactive public programs for people of all ages. These include receptions for new exhibits and their artists, when possible; tours, lectures, panel discussions and seminars on topics ranging from literature and the visual arts to current affairs; and our Free Family Day events.

Wish You Were Here Symposium/Panel Discussion

This event will be a public dialogue about ideas of place as they relate to Myrtle each in particular, as well as the coastal southeastern United Sates generally, from the mid-20th Century to the present. The following will be among the points of discussion: The role of photography as it relates to the formation (and presentation) of Myrtle Beach's identity as a vacation destination, road building, car culture and other modernist developments in the 20h Century U.S. South and how they affected the growth of Myrtle Beach communities and the tension between advertising images verses personal experience in vacation destinations in general.

12th Annual Spring Tour of Homes

Eagerly anticipated each year in Myrtle Beach, the Art Museum's Annual Tour of Homes features an array of spectacular houses and the opportunity to enjoy a buffet luncheon with an ocean view at The Dunes Club. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 day of tour; luncheon tickets are $17 (reservations are not necessary, lunch is served 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at The Dunes Golf and Beach).

KidsArt Summer Adventures

Children ages 5 through 7 and 8 through 12 are invited to visit the Art Museum to explore the Art, Fashion and Society of Japan. Following the Art Museum's successful summer program format, KidsArt workshops are designed for community group visits and fro individual participants. As in the past, these exciting, enriching and creative programs will take place in the Museum's bright and inviting studio and will be free of charge with a healthy snack, Exhibit tours and an introduction to Museum etiquette are included with stimulating art activities.

The Beauty and Culture of Japan Lecture Series

The Beauty and Culture of Japan is a series of weekly afternoon programs to include conversation/demonstrations on topics such as fashion, art, society, food and many others that make Japan so interesting and unique. Some of topics include the Arts of Bonsai and Ikebana, a Tea Ceremony, The Way of Taiko: The Heartbeat of the Japan (drumming), The Taste of Sushi and Obon: Japan's traditional August festival honoring ancestors and thanking them for the quality of life enjoyed by the living. This lecture series is sure to be a stimulating experience for all who participate.

This lively and unusual fundraiser for the Art Museum features a fun-filled auction of vintage, gently loved , one-of-a-kind and new ladies' handbags on an elegant luncheon setting. This is a wonderful opportunity for ladies who love art, support the Grand Strand's only Art Museum and to mingle with kindred spirits in a unique way.
